Video | WNDU Airs Three Part Series on Notre Dame Science Innovations

Part 2
Science Entrepreneurship

The second segment of “Brain Drain” focuses on a new Scientific Entrepreneurship class taught by Greg Crawford, dean of the College of Science, to undergraduate science majors. The course introduced aspiring scientists to business skills needed to translate their work into commercial applications. Using actual Notre Dame research discoveries, including Mark Suckow’s cancer vaccine and Prashant Kamat’s solar cell, they learned to draw up business plans and develop attention-getting elevator pitches. The course ended with presentations to Irish Angel investors. The proposed businesses are the kind of activity that could translate to Innovation Park and jobs in the local community.
