Video | WNDU Airs Three Part Series on Notre Dame Science Innovations

Part 3
Connecting Innovation to the Market

The WNDU segment “Fighting Brain Drain” closes with clips of the students’ presentations to the Irish Angels and discusses the process of bringing products to market. One investor said three of the ideas showed special promise. Projects such as Suckow’s vaccine, which has depended on private funding, need government grants to demonstrate the reliability of discovery so that investors will consider the risk worthwhile. The development will also require community support, Innovation Park CEO David Brenner said. Steps include development of prototypes and samples. South Bend officials hope that products developed at Innovation Park will move to the city’s developing Ignition Park for manufacturing.
