The Amazing and Mysterious World of Adult Stem Cells - Saturday Science Exploration Series

The human body is made up of millions of building blocks known as cells. Among our cells reside so-called adult stem cells, which perform amazing feats to fuel the turnover of worn-out or damaged cells and protect us from organ dysfunciton. In this presentation, the audience will hear about the many types of adult stem cells known to exist in our bodies. They will also learn how current reserachers are striving to unlcok the mysteries of how adult stems work, in order to create regenerative medicine treatments for inherited and acquired diseases.
