Usage and Priorities
Usage and priorities are determined by the Director and the DVT Committee. The director is Keith Davis and the committee members are Terrence Rettig (Physics, Committee Chair), Gerald Cappert (CoS/Jordan Hall Building Manager), Stephen D'Ambrosia (CoS/Computing), Ron Hellenthal (Biology), Paul Helquist (Chemistry), Philip Sakimoto (Physics), Olaf Wiest (Chemistry), and John Slaughter (Instructional Designer-Trainer).
The DVT may be used for the following types of activities, in the order given, provided that they require use of the DVT environment:
Priority 1: College of Science classes
Priority 2: Other Notre Dame classes
Priority 3: Special events
Priority 4: Development/Practice for College of Science classes
Priority 5: Development/Practice for Other Notre Dame classes
Priority 6: Development/Practice for Special events
Priority 7: Research
Scheduling usage of the DVT is the College of Science’s responsibility.
All requests for use of the DVT should be sent to Keith Davis.
Special events (Priority 3) may include such activities as university or public events, community or school group visits, or classes from other universities or colleges.
All activities taking place in the DVT must have a Notre Dame faculty sponsor who takes responsibility for scheduling and carrying out the activity. In the case of conflicts, activities sponsored by a College of Science faculty member will have priority over activities sponsored by faculty members from outside the College of Science.
All classes, events, and practice sessions taking place in the DVT must have an authorized system operator present at all times. It is the responsibility of the faculty sponsor to either be trained as an operator or to acquire the services of an authorized operator for each class or event.
