Notre Dame Research is now accepting applications for multiple award opportunities within the Internal Grants Program. All full-time, regular faculty are encouraged to apply for the Faculty Research Support Program (FRSP) Regular Grant, the FRSP Initiation Grant, and the Francis M. Kobayashi Travel Fund (KTF).

“Notre Dame Research offers a number of services that support faculty and their research, but the Internal Grant Program provides an important opportunity to aid our researchers by either helping to kick-off a new program or cover other costs, like travel,” said Richard E. Billo, associate vice president for research and professor of computer science and engineering. “I look forward to seeing the proposals our faculty put forward and what innovative projects are on the horizon at Notre Dame.”

The KTF provides funding to initiate new research by subsidizing travel expenses incurred in the acquisition, analysis and development of data, and/or the consulting of primary materials, collections, or other research resources at off-campus sites. Grants up to $1,500 USD are available through this program. Applications for the KTF are due by Thursday, September 20 by 5:00 p.m. EDT.

The FRSP Initiation Grant provides seed funding to established faculty initiating new programs or to junior faculty in the early stages of their research programs. Initiation grants ranging up to $10,000 of total funding, as appropriate to the research proposal, are available through this program.

The FRSP Regular Grant provides funding for researchers in any field of study to support outstanding research that will make a major contribution. Regular grants range from $25,000 to $100,000 of total funding, as appropriate to the research proposal, over three years are available through this program.  All applications for the FRSPs are due by Friday, October 26 by 5:00 p.m. EDT.

In addition to the FRSP and KTF competitions, the Office of the Provost’s Science of Wellness Initiative is also accepting concept papers for its inaugural Catalyst Seed Grant competition until Friday, September 14, 2018 by 5:00 p.m. EDT
