Kuno Publishes Nanowire Results

Shariar Mobashery

Ken Kuno, Assistant Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry recently published his results on spatial and intensity modulation of nanowire emission in the Journal of the American Chemical Society1. He described how the emission of light from semiconductor nanowires can be controlled by external electric fields, suggesting the presence of mobile charge carriers. This finding could have implications for the design of ‘wires’ in nanocircuits.  His collaborative research has further applications towards explaining blinking in other systems, particularly in colloidal QDs.

His results were also featured in the journal Nature in December 2007 in an article titled, “Charge of the light brigade.”2
