Notre Dame Research in the News

Notre Dame Science Research in the News Within the last week, the work of the College of Science has appeared in two major news outlets, the New York Times and Yahoo! News.

On November 22, John Rothlisberger, a graduate student in the Department of Biological Sciences, wrote about his work with Professor David Lodge in which he estimated the cost of invasive species in the Great Lakes to be more than $200 million in losses in 2006. On November 19, the following article was on the front page of the New York Times online edition. The article highlights the work of professors Kenneth Filchak and Jeff Feder on how new species form and uses Rhagoletis pomonella, the apple maggot fly, as the key example. The majority of this research was conducted at Notre Dame. Read All Hail the Apple Maggot!
