Science Exploration Series: "Advancing a Treatment for Niemann-Pick Type C Disease"

Location: 101 Jordan Hall of Science

Olaf Wiest and Paul Helquist

Niemann-Pick Type C (NPC) disease is a very rare genetic disorder, which primarily strikes young children. NPC is 100% fatal in children and there is currently no cure for the disease. Three of legendary Notre Dame football coach Ara Parseghian's grandchildren were victims of this terrible disease.  Professors Helquist and Wiest will discuss how researchers at Notre Dame, together with collaborators at several other major institutions, have recently made significant progress in finding a possible treatment for this disease.

Join the College of Science before each home football game for exciting science lectures. All Saturday Science Exploration Series lectures are free and open to the public.
