Fifty years ago, the United States did the impossible by landing astronauts on the moon and returning them safely, but the Apollo program was canceled just three years later. Why did we stop? In 2017 the President directed NASA to send humans back to the moon in order to begin our expansion into the solar system. Why should we go back? This public talk by Clive Neal, professor of civil and environmental engineering and earth sciences, will examine these questions while celebrating the legacy of Apollo.
After the talk, Keith Davis, director of the digital visualization theater, will give a short presentation in the DVT (100 Jordan Hall) about the moon.
