Title:  The Allocation and Effectiveness of Funding for Global Biodiversity Conservation

Abstract:  A shortfall in funding for conservation is a major reason for the global decline in biodiversity. The international community is now calling for up to an order of magnitude increase in funding for conservation at the planetary scale. To make the most of future investments, we need to know how much has already been spent, how investments have been distributed, and where the funding comes from. Knowledge of what motivates funder decision-making and other drivers of conservation spending patterns is urgently needed. Finally, we need information on the effectiveness of previous funding and key factors associated with effective conservation investment. This presentation will share results from original research and a literature review to shed light on these vital topics in conservation policy and finance.
