All attendees are asked to register online at Research Day Registration. Poster presenters are required to register.
Abstract Submissions
Deadline: Tuesday, February 28 at 5 PM Eastern
The Poster Session will run from 9 AM - 1 PM on Monday, March 27 in the Smith Ballroom at The Morris Inn.
Oral Presentations by trainees will be selected from competing abstracts and poster prizes will be awarded. The Oral Presentations will begin at 1:15 PM in the Private Dining Rooms at The Morris Inn.
Keynote: Robert A. Winn, M.D.
We are especially pleased to announce that this year's keynote speaker is Dr. Robert A. Winn '87, Director and Lipman Chair in Oncology, Virginia Commonwealth University Massey Cancer Center, senior associate dean for cancer innovation, and professor of pulmonary disease and critical care medicine, VCU School of Medicine.
Winn is committed to both community-engaged research and research focused on eliminating health disparities. He is the principal investigator on several large multi-institutional initiatives, including a team science award from Stand Up To Cancer, a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-funded Planning SPORE focused on Lung Cancer Health Equity, and an NCI-funded institutional partnership award fostering cancer disparities research and career development. Winn manages his own basic and translational research laboratory which has been supported by multiple NIH and Veterans Affairs Merit awards for nearly two decades. Winn’s laboratory focuses on the molecular mechanisms and novel therapeutic approaches for lung cancer and the confluence between societal and biological factors which may lead to disparities. Exceptional Trainee Award Nominations
Any HCRI faculty/trainee/staff/undergraduate may nominate a Graduate Student or Postdoc for an Exceptional Trainee award. Categories are:
- Exceptional Mentor: Awarded to the trainee for their exceptional leadership in mentoring others.
- Exceptional Team Science: Awarded to the trainee who best exemplifies HCRI’s foundation in interdisciplinary research through his or her commitment to collaboration.
