As a follow-up to its “Top Biology Grad Programs” list published last fall, Graduateprograms.com recently released its “Dean’s List” of top biology graduate programs in the areas of career support, school use of technology, financial aid, and education quality. The graduate program in the Department of Biological Sciences at University of Notre Dame was ranked fourth for career support and sixth for financial aid.

Over the last two weekends, the department hosted 45 prospective students on the Notre Dame campus. During the visit, the group attended faculty presentations and panel discussions, and took tours of various labs and campus. The prospective students have very diverse backgrounds and come from undergraduate institutions across the country and internationally.

“We have a particularly high caliber pool of prospective students this year,” said Hope Hollocher, director of graduate studies and associate professor of biological sciences. “We are very excited about the possibility of recruiting a very talented incoming class that will continue to strengthen our graduate program.”

Graduateprograms.com is a student-based service that provides ratings and reviews for programs across the country. Information was collected from September 1, 2012 to September 30, 2013 from current and recent graduate students using a 10 star system.
