Dean Gregory Crawford and his wife Renate are riding for the lives of children with Niemann-Pick Type C (NPC) disease, an extremely rare and deadly neurodegenerative disease that primarily strikes children before or during adolescence. The Crawfords will be riding their bicycles 2,200 miles over 30 days from Tucson, Arizona—home of the Ara Parseghian Medical Research Foundation—to Notre Dame, Indiana.
Along the ride, Dean Crawford will be blogging about his experiences, raising awareness and funds for Niemann Pick Type C disease.

Partnership with the Ara Parseghian Medical Research Foundation
Building on a long-standing relationship with the University of Notre Dame, the Ara Parseghian Medical Research Foundation has made a $3-million commitment to allow the University of Notre Dame to support and to advance research initiatives to find treatment options for Neimann-Pick Type C.
Of the total funding, $2.5 million will establish the Michael, Marcia and Christa Parseghian Endowment for Excellence to support NP-C research and discovery and to build on the Foundation’s commitment to collaborate with young researchers at other institutions. An additional $500,000 will be dedicated in support of an annual NP-C scientific conference that will be held at Notre Dame in the future, bringing together researchers from around the world to share discoveries and progress.
