In the summer of 2017, a team of faculty, graduate, and undergrated students began working on addressing the problem of elevated lead exposure in homes in South Bend. On September 26, 2017, they presented their preliminary findings during a panel discussion at Jordan Hall. Approximately 60 community members were in attendance. Professors Graham Peaslee, Marya Lieberman, and Heidi Beidinger, and graduate student Meghan Tighe graciously have allowed the College of Science to share their slide presentation.
The team is now working on ways to scale up screening of homes in St Joseph County to detect dangerous levels of lead.
