The very best Notre Dame has to offer for only its very best students.
The most important academic decision a gifted high school student makes is whether to attend a top research university or an elite liberal arts college. The Glynn Family Honors Program makes it easy—both!
Glynn Scholars enjoy a unique, albeit intense, academic experience that brings together the distinct benefits of both Notre Dame’s College of Science and College of Arts and Letters. Students attend small, discussion-based classes, enjoy mentoring courtesy of a select group of outstanding faculty, and undertake original research projects. All students are expected to complete a special six-hour senior research honors project in their major field of study. In addition to the academic features of the Glynn Family Honors Program, students are also offered opportunities for broadening personal, cultural, and spiritual growth through regular colloquia, informal discussions, and cultural excursions.
Although selection criteria include the promise of outstanding academic performance as demonstrated by standardized test scores and high school performance, the program looks for more than mere academic ability; it also hopes to identify students with a deep intellectual curiosity.
Aristotle said, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” Bringing together talented undergraduates into sustained and life-changing contact with distinguished scholars who inspire and prepare them for premier graduate and doctoral programs, for successful careers, and for lives of service, the Glynn Family Honors Program is a shining example of the culture of excellence at the University of Notre Dame.
