Abstract: The birth of “Bio-organometallic Chemistry” corresponded with an amazing time in Inorganic and Organometallic Chemistry. The journey of the speaker that positioned her to contribute to this second act of organometallic chemistry, leads into the discoveries of diatomic ligands within the diiron- and nickel-iron active sites in hydrogenase enzymes, and the community of scientists that have pretty much “figured it out” with regard to the components assembled by Nature.
