We conclude the official Welcome Weekend schedule with an opportunity for students and faculty to initiate conversations about this distinct environment of teaching and learning. This final event of Welcome Weekend is an informal discussion in which faculty members may candidly share “first week of school” advice with first-year students within the residence hall setting and answer questions like: ““What is a syllabus good for?” “What do I call my teacher?” “How should I dress?” “What if I have to go to the bathroom?” “When and how should I communicate with teachers?” “What are office hours?” “What does the appropriate email language look like?” “What if I need help with assignments? "Am I good enough to be here?” "What if I'm late to class?"
