The University of Notre Dame is offering an executive certificate in data science that focuses on the applications of data science to real-world problems.

Geared toward process improvement professionals, the seven-week certificate program will give participants exposure to key technologies of machine learning and artificial intelligence. Students will also learn the basics of the R programming language, a top open-source statistics language for data science.

The program begins Sept. 21, 2021.

“This program is a great complement to our online master’s program, and it gives participants from a variety of backgrounds another pathway into data science,” said Roger Woodard, director of Notre Dame’s Online Master’s in Data Science program. “The certificate will give a broad overview of data science and machine learning applied to practical problems, which will give participants a valuable first step to introducing cutting-edge technology to their organizations.”

The program combines asynchronous elearning and with live, online class meetings where students will learn fromNotre Dame faculty while reviewing elearning supplements and completing hands-on exercises.

Students wishing to apply should have understanding of probability and statistics, linear regression, and process management. Typical participants include process improvement program leaders, Six Sigma leaders, process engineering leaders and quality improvement professionals.

The deadline to enroll for the executive certificate program is Sunday, August 1.
