There are numerous opportunities for undergraduates to do research on and off campus. With a little work, students can find a position best suited for their needs and interests.
Notre Dame-Funded Research Opportunities
There are many programs available to students right on campus that can help fund research positions during the academic year and throughout the summer.
Off-Campus Research Opportunities
If you are interested in conducting research off-campus during the summer, review the list of available opportunities the College of Science has compiled. You may find a research position close to home or in a location you've always wanted to visit. Please keep in mind that this is not a complete list of all research opportunities around the country.
The Career Center has provided a helpful resource to find summer internships, including a list of companies and websites.
Travel Grants and Other Funding
If you are interested in presenting your original research at national conferences or if you need assistance with travel expenses for your off-campus research position, apply for a travel grant. There are also many other funding opportunities available for research, including Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) programs.
Alumni Mentorship Program
The Notre Dame alumni network can be an invaluable resource for students looking for research positions. Many Notre Dame science alumni at research universities, laboratories, and hospitals throughout the country are willing and excited to work with undergraduate researchers.
